Led Zeppelin share the bill with Vanilla Fudge and Jethro Tull for 2 nights in Chicago.

Carmine Appice: "John and I were testing out some new Ludwig stands while playing the Kinetic Playground in Chicago. By the end of the night, we had both broken the stands so we gave them back and said: "They're gonna need  to be a lot stronger, we broke them." You should have seen the look of shock on the faces of the people from Ludwig!"

THANK YOU!

All these years I've been telling people I saw Zeppelin at the Electric Theater back in the day.  We went as often as we could: the lineups were amazing; we saw all these great "underground" bands for a few bucks. It wasn't long after that these same bands were playing big venues, and then the prices started rising.  But what an amazing time and place it was!  I was 17; it was a different world.  Zep still remain in heavy rotation on my Ipod(!)  We knew, even in those early tours, that they were the real deal.  Not just heavy, rhythmic, loud, bluesy, sexy, but borrowing from many genres to weave something different. Still gets me; takes me back.  Thanks for many years of listening and experiencing.
