I was there, following a powerful recommendation. It was one of the most exciting gigs I ever attended. Jimmy Page was using some kind of effects box with an antenna. The audience were stunned and the atmosphere was electric. I had school the next day and ordered the first album on my way home, weeks before it was released, from Arcade Records in Hertford.
It was clear that Led Zep were destined to be enormous. I went back to the Cherry Tree a few times and saw Family and Chicken Shack, I recall. I was a great Family fan.
