I Was at That Show

I was at that show. I and few friends drove to Bean Town to catch the band at the Boston Tea Party, an intimate and crowded nightclub, on their first US tour. We couldn't get in, cause it was sold out, so we parked in a lot behind the club, fired up a couple of numbers and settled down on the hood of the car facing the club, just to listen. It was a warm May night. About halfway through the set, someone opened the fire doors directly behind the stage to get some air into the joint and Page stepped out onto the adjacent fire escape. He smiled at us and launched into a blistering solo on "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You," putting on a three-minute show just for us.

Definitely a defining moment in my 40 years as a rock fan.
