I attended this gig, I was

I attended this gig, I was 17 at the time. I recall you had to attend 4 previous gigs ( crap bands mostly, one was the Pink Fairies ) at the Boat club to be able to buy a ticket for Led Zeppelin. This I did and arrived at the Boat Club at 2pm in the afternoon to become second in the queue! I think they opened the doors at 7pm, by which time there wer several hundred people outside. My mate and I ran to the stage and secured a front row position, centre stage. Zeppelin came on and proceeded to blow us away - it was stunning. Robert Plant was immediately in front of me, about 18" away, with his groin on my eye level! Sound wise, we would have been better off further back, as the speakers were effectively behind us, but excitement wise we were in the right place! During John Bonham's drum solo, the other three guys squeezed into the dj's booth and smoked joints. A little later on Robert plant asked me if I had a joint I could give him, unfortunately I hadn't.
At some point in the concert John Bonham broke a drumstick, and the broken off half hit me in the chest! I kept this as a souvenier for many years after, until I was decorating one day and looking for something to stir the paint, I found the drumstick and used that! It unfortunately got thrown away after. I remember they played stairway to heaven which we hadn't heard before, this was before Led Zep IV came out. Also remember Jimmy Page using a violin bow on Communication Breakdown. Altogether one of my most treasured memories!
