1972 Led Zeppelin Amsterdam concert

My daughter and her boy friend just graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston and are back in Seattle for the holidays. We were just talking of old great rock bands and I told them of my summer of 1972 when I was hitching around Europe (first of several trips). I had the good fortune of landing in Amsterdam, sleeping on a canal boat ($1.00 or 3 Dutch guilder a night!) and hanging out.

I heard of a Zepplin show and managed to get a ticket. My buddy and I got to the place early and were wondering if we had the correct address, we expected a hall or large commercial place, instead we found ourselves outside an old looking warehouse with many other folks. When the large wooden doors opened we all rushed in to a large open room, with no chairs. Towards the back of the room was a small wooden stage built up maybe 3 feet high and a theater type velvet rope barrier only a few feet from the would be stage. No security that I can recall, we just parked ourselves a few feet from the velvet rope, surrounded by an amazing mix of Euro/international folks and saw the most remarkable performance of my life.

In my life I have not seen many big name bands, due to the hype, large crowds, etc. This was a simple pure and innocent time, to live on in my memory and share with others. I did not know there was a web site for this concert. Be interesting to see if others had the same experience and memories. Peace to all.
