Birmingham Odeon Gig, Dec 1972
I was 18 when I saw them at this show. It was my first & last experience of them, despite being a huge fan of their music then and now. As concerts go I thought the music was good, JP was awesome, but felt the show lacked any real energy compared to the other acts I saw around that time e.g. Yes, Black Sabbath, Curved Air, Deep Purple, Family. I do remember a little girl wandering across the stage at one point during the show. I assumed it was one of RP's kids as I think he was the only one to show any interest in her. But its hard to remember after so many years. I do remember a bunch of heavies patrolling in front of the stage and jumping on anyone they felt stepped out of line. A sign of things to come maybe...
I still consider LZ the greatest rock band of all time and enjoy seeing any of the many tribute bands that are around.
