CINCINNATI (UPI) — Police reported today about 70 persons were arrested Tuesday night m a melee caused by would-be gate-crashers at a Led Zeppelin rock concert. Several windows were broken and several doors smashed at Riverfront Coliseum, where several hundred persons without tickets milled about, hoping to get into the already sold-out concert. Several persons were hit by rocks and bottles, but no serious injuries were reported.

Inside the coliseum, the concert went on as scheduled. (The Journal, April 1977)

1977 Cincinnati Show

I remember this one not too long before The Who concert came to town(the one where about 13 kids were crushed and killed). We were in the crowd about 50 yards from the entrance getting CRUSHED by the crowd around us. At a couple of points, both my feet were off the ground as the crowd surged towards the entrance. I remember at least one of the doors center glass got broken (basically shattered into thousands of pieces). Some people were crawling on top of everyone elses heads and shoulders towards the door. The humidity was unbelievable. We didn't really care. When we got inside, they fortunately had the a/c on really cold! We really couldn't beleive we were seeing this band. I was dumbfounded.Yes, I got a concert shirt and wore it like a trophy to school the following week. Wish now that I would have kept it, but it was too cool to wear it instead. What a show. What a fucking band. Unbelievable. I really wish Bonham was still here.
