Oakland Memories

When tickets sold out for the Sat. show, and some of my friends had managed to get some, I was bummed out. That was until they added the Sunday show. A couple friends & myself heard there would be tickets available on the Day of Show, so we jumped in my little VW beetle, and made the 3 hour drive, from Fresno. We arrived at about 10AM, that morning. To our delight, we found that scalpers were having a hard time selling tickets. As we approached the entrance, the price went lower and lower. We each ended up paying $10 for what would become the most memorable concert of my life! The day was a bit overcast, with clouds swirling through the air. I was a bit tired from the drive, but when the first notes of SRTS filled the stadium, I was instantly refreshed. The REAL magic started when Jimmy started White / Black, under gloomy skies. Just as the first blast of Kashmir shook the air, the clouds broke, and the Sun beat down on Roberts face, at the moment he sang those lyrics. It was surreal!! Truly a Life Changing Event. I still listen to my recording every July 24th!
