This show is just blistering. The first set has the group firing on all cylinders and playing their hearts out. The second set is more bluesy and laid back, but that never means less enjoyable. The only live version of Sittin' and Thinkin', a Buddy Guy number, is here and the completely different song list for each set make this a great show to have. Dazed And Confused is really dark here. The group's excitement to be so anticipated by Californian audience found their way in Plant ad-libbed lyrics of I Can't Quit You Baby: "I'm so glad you came tonight ... but I think we're gonna leave this town for a little while ... I don't want to leave you people ... but I think we've got to leave San Francisco for a little while". Also some member of the audience is calling for You Shook Me, what makes a quick and quite funny response from Plant: "Right! Don't worry by that! Just one before that!"

I bought my first copy of this show in the early nineties. I was blown away that I had never heard it. I had plenty of classics (of course on album and tape) but I had not imagined something like this...

Of course just about all the shows listed on this site (which I just found tonight) are available in some form if you know where to get them. Back in the 80's, unless you had a hookup, you were stuck with potentially a small set. Now, I have gigs and gigs of shows I have yet to even listen to.

Anyway, where am I going with this? Since there are so many shows out there, I want to recommend this as a must have. This is my all time favorite Zeppelin.

Listen between tracks 3 and 4, there is a heckler giving Robert Plant a hard time. It is pretty classic to think that this band would go on to be probably the greatest ever. Oh and the as long as I have you medley would certainly shut up any heckler for life.

I was just listening to this show, when I caught the guy shouting out to play You Shook Me.

When Robert says "can we just do one before that", the guy shouts back, "Yeah of course"..lol

And yes, they are on fire in this show!
