Dazed and Confused

Note:

Filmed performance for Supershow, which received some limited screenings in England and North America in late 1969. Other acts in the lineup included: Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce, Buddy Miles, Stephen Stills, Buddy Guy, Coliseum and Roland Kirk. Zeppelin's appearance is featured on the official 2003 dvd.

Jimmy Page: "We performed Dazed and Confused with what seemed to be a pretty experienced production team, as the camera angles appeared interesting at the time. They also used some dry ice, which was quite vibey, and we were just part of a number of artists that were to appear on this show - some of whom had not yet recorded and were due to arrive at the building.

There was definitely a timeslot for us to do another number, especially as the other artists hadn't arrived, and I suggested to the director that maybe it would be a good opportunity to do Communication Breakdown as a second number, but they declined the offer and said it wasn't necessary!" - jimmypage.com

Led Zeppelin is and will be the best Group. There is no further comment necessary.
This music will survive many generations.

I can recall that week's edition of 'Melody Maker' reported on this 'Super Session' and may have had photos of the band and some of the others.
Sadly no photos but I have a May 1969 copy of 'Beat Instrumental' which mentions Led Zep amongst other artists, on the cover are some of the participants of this Super Session namely Eric C, Dick Hectall Smith and Roland Kirk. It would take until the November 1969 edition of 'BI' to actually feature L Z in their own right with a 1 page article.

Zeppelin's contribution to the Supershow movie was this exquisite, compact and powerful version of Dazed And Confused with a really spacey bow section and a ripping finale. A real gem and a treat!

this LZ performance is the best in the rock history...

Jim's picture

This was the first footage I ever saw outside of the movie-and boy is it explosive! It can be found on DVD, but I (and a whole lot of other people) would love to see the rest of this footage!!
