I agree with the both of the earlier reviews.I was under a blanket with a friend getting high .we used it like a tent. When the crowd realized it was time to get tickets they knocked over the barricades. I saw a policeman and a young girl get injured.I lost my shoe but i was one of the first to get my tickets at the box office. On the day of the show it was extremly hot. I told my friend Tommy Powell that we bought our tickets in a snow storm and went to the show in a heat wave then zep was a little late said they were hung up in traffic.Robert said they would play a long show for us and that they would be back in july to play the superdome in new orleans which as history will tell you never happened as they were in new orleans when Robert got the telegram/call telling him his son had died.I saw zeppelin quite a few times but that was one of the best i submitted a few pictures to the site and a scan of my stub. have a small piece of video from a unknown source silent 8mm watch it occasionally to remind me of that show.
My shirt got smaller for some reason so i had to buy a replacement/copy used to wear a small

At the age of 13, it was one of the my first concerts. I remember begging my mom to let me go. In January of 1977, myself and several friends stood in a line that literally wrapped around the LSU Assembly Center to purchase tickets. It was sleeting and freezing cold. They ran out of tickets (in those days they sold individual tickets, not by computer). They had to wake up the owner of a local department store to have him go to the vault and get the tickets the store was going to sell. I remember the police escort bringing the tickets to the stadium to sell them. The concert was simply awesome. I don't know how else to describe it. My husband is VERY jealous that he didn't get to go to this show. He wore my concert t-shirt for years until it was a rag. He was walking down the street one day when we were dating and someone stopped and offered him $200 for the shirt. He knew I'd kill him if he sold it. I recently replaced it with one from an on-line vendor and he wears it all of the time.

Led Zeppelin was then, and still is my favorite band of all time.

This show was originally scheduled for March 1st, 1977. Robert Plant contracted laryngitis just before the tour was to kick off and the show was rescheduled for May 19th. I was 19 at the time and remember stapling the ticket to my bedroom wall as to not lose it. What a great show. I still have my ticket stub.

A very short video excerpt exists from what could be a good show. An excellent light show during Jimmy's solo is captured as well as the Starship arriving at the airport.

I attended this show when I was in the 8th grade on a SCHOOL night! What a night it was! My friend, Troy has already said how we got the tickets....we bought them in January, but the show was postponed until May. It was worth the wait. I have seen lots of bands over the years, including Page/Plant and Robert Plant. NO ONE surpasses this show.
Zeppelin was and forever will be the BEST band ever.

I was at this show as well, didn't think I was destined to see Zeppelin though. As a previous poster said, we had to stand in line outside the assembly center box office in the freezing sleet and rain to get tickets my feet were frozen and the crowds were crazy, bending steel barricades, jumping off the box office roof to get out after getting their tickets. Me and a bunch of friends spent the night in two vans in the parking lot the night before. Like to froze to death. The next day while in line near the the box office window, I remember turning around just in time to see one of my friends smack a parked car with his van right in front of the assembly center now called the P-Mac for Pistol Pete Maravitch. After a postponed show, the day we left for the show in March my car breaks down, my friend and I left the piece of crap and hitch hiked the rest of the way to Baton Rouge. Ended up catching a ride with two guys going to the show as well. Our lucky day NOT! these guys were blitzed. Well as soon as we caught sight of the assembly center, we said "we'll get out here" and walked the few blocks away. Kept my stub for the show many years, then one day I was on ebay and saw people, collectors I presume, buying Zeppelin stubs for big bux. Guess what my first ebay sale was? Hope The guys aren't mad at me. After all I went through to see them I worked for those tickets.
If you guys ( Jimmy, Robert, John and Jason ) read this, I hope you go on tour again and stop by New Orleans again, you guys are still the "HAMMER of the GODS! " down here.
I caught your show in 94 at lake front arena .We were blown away" Hurdy-gurdie "

I/'ve posted a comment on the Birmi, ala show on my thought's of LED ZEPPELIN'S 2008 YEAR!
My name is Johnny Stritz;i'm the #1 fan of LED ZEP in Louisiana and i'm thinking about writing a book on how Led Zeppelin has changed my life in the last 36 years.I could go on about this part of my comment for hours but instead i've came up with a wish list for the millions(billions) of fans who care deeply about the Mighty ZEP.
2009 of course is basically the 40th anniversary of the touring LED ZEPPELIN. As of the moment it does'nt look good for LED ZEPPELIN taking the stage again with Robert's project with Allison part 2 in 2009.
I've been collecting Led-ZEP for about 30 years and i lost my collection in HURRICANE KATRINA AS I LIVED IN ST.BERNARD LA. AND OUR WHOLE PARISH WAS FLOODED WITH NOTHING SPARED.I know live in Lafayette LA.since 2005 and had to start my collection over but it has brought back so many memories that there is not a day in my life were i'm not doing something (my hobby) of ZEP VARIETY(READING LISTENING COLLECTING ETC).
So as Jimmy has stated he wants to show the younger generation what the LED ZEP CONCERT EXPERIENCE WAS ABOUT!!!
We know Robert does'nt want to be involved with LED ZEP IN 2009 so heres a wish list from the number #1 zep-fan in 2009!!!!
More live DVD'S released official not on bootleg which is easily ascessable.I've heard that alot of ZEP-MATERIAL was stolen from the LED ZEPPELIN ARCHIVES as stated by Jimmy but every month new live dvd material appears on this site LEDZEPPELIN.COM The concert at the Houston Summit has survived as so has the RECORD-BREAKING 76,000 PONTIAC SILVERDOME DETROIT 1977 W/A FEW MORE SHOWS FROM THE 1977 TOUR WERE PRO SHOT SEATTLE KINGDOOM JULY17TH 1977 IS AVAILABLE THRU BOOTLEG. So Jimmy please release the DVD-#2 FROM THE 1977 TOUR which i believe had incredable performances during the 6-night sold out show's in JUNE 1977.
RELEASE MORE LIVE CD MATERIAL: JUNE 21ST (LISTEN TO THIS EDDIE) L.A.1ST NIGHT 1 of the top 3-shows Zep ever played!! would be great to release to the public from 1977 tour.
I could go on for day's on a 2009 ZEP-FAN WISH LIST so with this being a 40-year anniversary of the GREATEST ROCK-N-ROLL BAND EVER:JIMMY,ROBERT,& JONESY LET'S MAKE 2009 UNFORGETABLE AND MAYBE WE MAY SEE JIMMY & JONESY OUT ON THE TILES AGAIN!!! We hope that Robert is happy w/ALLISON which is fine for him.
Jimmy give the fans what they want the next best thing (live DVD FROM EARL'S COURT SHOW'S, LIVE DVD FROM THE 1977 TOUR,&LIVE DVD OF THE 1979 KNEBWORTH SHOW'S) this would be purchased by the young and old and show why their will never be a BAND LIKE LED ZEPPELIN ever again.
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009.
JOHNNY STRITZ.

I was there at the Baton Rouge show when I was 14 years old. What a show ! The greatest concert I've ever been to by the greatest band ever !!

How crazy is this? I am just checking out stuff on Zep's site and there you are!!

I just finished reading Hammer of the Gods. It was fantastic!!

Johnny, I just ran across your story by accident while searching for lost Led Zeppelin footage. I also was/still am a big time Zeppelin fanatic/collector. I also lost EVERYTHING in Katrina as I lived in Chalmette. I have since replaced about 75% of what I originally collected (LZ related material), but always looking for something new to add. I can relate to your loss and that is something we both will never forget.

Cheers-take care
