Official Press Release (Bill Graham):

British Groups Headlining  Fillmore West - Winterland Show

For Release: April 11, 1969

Led Zeppelin; Julie Driscoll, Brian Auger and the Trinity; and the Colwell-Winfield Blues Band will appear at Bill Graham's Fillmore West, Thursday and Sunday, April 24 and 27 , and at Winterland Friday and Saturday, April 25 and 26 .

Led Zeppelin, a British band led by ex-Yardbird Jimmy Page, released their first LP, "Led Zeppelin" (Atlantic) in January, just prior to their first appearance at Fillmore West. The group received ovations after each performance at their Fillmore West engagement and their album quickly rose to the top of the best-selling record charts both here and in England.

Led Zeppelin specializes in blues, has already been compared to such outstanding British groups as the late Cream and The Rolling Stones. Besides leader Page, the group includes John Paul Jones on bass; Robert Plant, lead singer; and John Bonham, drums.

Julie Driscoll, Brian Auger and The Trinity, another British jazz-rock group, features Julie Driscoll (recently named Britain's top female singer in Melody Maker's annual poll) on vocals, Brian Auger on organ. Their first album, "Open" devoted one side to Julie's vocals, the other to instrumentals by the Trinity. The group recently appeared at Fillmore East, New York, where they drew two standing ovations.

The Colwell-Winfield Blues Band, a six-man group from Boston, Mass., recently released their first album "Cold Wind Blues" on the Verve - Forecast label. They have received excellent reviews in the East and will be making their first appearance at Fillmore West.

The Fillmore - Winterland dance will begin at 8:30 p.m., end at 2 a.m. Tickets are $3.00 Thursday and Sunday; 3.50 Friday and Saturday.

In San Francisco tickets are available at City Lights, 261 Columbus; Town Squire, 1318 Polk; Discount Records, 262 Sutter and Outside In, 2544 Mission.
