Official Press Release:

LED ZEPPELIN RELEASE DOUBLE L.P. SOUNDTRACK
TO THEIR FEATURE FILM "THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME"
FIRST LIVE RECORDING EVER
SHIPS PLATINUM -- EIGHTH MILLION SELLER FOR GROUP

September 24, 1976 - Peter Grant, President of Swan Song, Inc. proudly announces the release of THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME, the new album from Led Zeppelin. A two record set, it is the first live recording from the group, including songs from their first five L.P.s. Recorded at Madison Square Garden during their record breaking 1973 tour and mixed by Jimmy Page earlier this year. The album is the soundtrack to their long awaited feature film, to be released at the end of October. THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME ships platinum the first week of October.

Eight years ago, Zeppelin exploded onto the scene with their first album, creating an entirely new genre of music. Five years ago, they turned AM radio upside-down with "Stairway To Heaven" -- seven minutes and fifty-five seconds long, the song from their fourth record, got airplay across the board as an album cut! According to Billboard magazine, the record is the largest selling rock L.P. ever.

Last year, they stunned the music industry when, with the release of their sixth album, PHYSICAL GRAFFITI, all five previous Zeppelin recordings went back on the charts with bullets. No other artist in history has had six L.P.s on the charts at the same time. In May, they released PRESENCE, their seventh million seller. Shipped platinum, the record went immediately to number one in all industry charts. THE SONG REMAINS THE SAME then, stands as a testament to the phenomenal career of Led Zeppelin, both as an archive and an innovation.

Meticulously produced by Jimmy Page, in the words of Rolling Stone's Cameron Crowe "...from 'Rock And Roll' to 'Whole Lotta Love' it is some of their most blazing live material, caught on a special evening. For the first time, a Led Zeppelin performance need not just be a fiery memory. The film as well as this soundtrack, can be experienced again and again."

Swan Song is owned by the members of Led Zeppelin and their manager, Peter Grant. Other artists on the label are Bad Company, Pretty Things, Maggie Bell, Detective, and Dave Edmunds.
