Jethro Tull gave a great opening act lead-in... Ian Anderson orchestrated a very tight set which... despite the notoriously bad acoustics of the old HemisFair Arena... sounded great. Very energetic... all over the stage... Led Zep took the stage after a long break/setup... seemed like it took forever... Zep had problems with sound during the first couple of songs... like they lost the settings from their sound check... (these were the primitive days for amplified electronics...) After the first couple of songs, they got it worked out and the rest of the concert was good... but they should have used J.Tull's sound crew... great concert...

I remember 2 things really well and that was a) Jethro Tull was really good and the audience didn't really want them to leave  b) I had 5th row center seats and when Robert Plant started singing "The Lemon Song" with the verse 'the juice ran down my leg' - being 17 I was SHOCKED - of course the LSD probably didn't help much - GREAT SHOW and oh yes -----
c) tried to call Robert Plant's room but they would not let me thru BUT they did let me through to Jimmy Paige - good thing he didn't invite me up as I hear he had some strange sexual proclivities

BIG Disapointment for ME.

At the time I was in the army but stationed at the dog handler school at Lackland AFB.  When I heard Led Zep would play at Hemisfare I rushed and got great tickets near the front.  On the day of the concert I was transfered to Ft. Sam Houston across town and restricted to the base.  I was crushed.  Had I realized Ft. Sam was an open post and the restriction would be unenforced I would have gone anyway.

So this concert was a consolation prize for missing Woodstock (which started the same day), and my consolation was a dark night in the Ft Sam baracks.

I was 18 and I was absolutely in love with Zepp's music!  Something that really stood out at the time was I recall the gread show put on by Ian Anderson and how it stook in to me stark contrast with Led Zeppelin mostly standing almost statcially as compared to Ian's jumping around.  Anyway, one of my all time favorite concert memories to this day.
