Jimmy Page: "This was another recorded concert in Japan at Osaka and the last of a series of successful concerts in this country. During the acoustic set of 'That's the Way', 'Going to California' and 'Tangerine', John Bonham nipped off stage and hadn't returned for the electric 'What Is and What Should Never Be'. So we continued the acoustic set with a quick re-tune for 'Friends' - the first and only time we were to play this song live. We finished the song and he still wasn't back. Then, as Robert was to give a rendition of 'When Smoke Gets in Your Eyes', he still wasn't back. With some encouragement from Robert P, the audience chanted 'Where's Mr Bonham!' - he finally re-appeared and we finished the set."

Perhaps one of the best shows ever recorded. Rare performance of Friends and an extra long Whole Lotta Love make this show superb . Rumored to be multi tracked...

The last show of the 1971 Japan tour is a tour de force! The energy and virtuosity are unbelievable, and Robert's voice is amazing, sustaining all of his high range notes and going low ... a most commanding vocal performance. "We spent two weeks in wonderful, glorious Japan which has been incredible. Great hotels, great bars, great people and without giving you any bullshit, this is our last night in Japan and we're gonna have a good time and I think you will!" said Plant during the show. Dazed And Confused is very long and includes some great jams in the middle, including Pennies From Heaven! Stairway To Heaven has a great solo from Jimmy, Celebration Day is fast and furious and this may be the best acoustic set I have ever heard! That's The Way, Going To California, and Tangerine all have amazing improvs within them, especially from Jones on the mandolin. Friends has it sonly live premier here too! Moby Dick is inventive and neat and Whole Lotta Love features some obscure and great references, and Robert is a joy to listen to. The encores are wonderful too, including a throat-tearing rendition of Rock And Roll (still untitled).

This information was collected from "Led Zeppelin - Live in Osaka, Japan (Sept. 29, 1971) -Winson Remaster" Internet), "A cellarful Of Noise" The Kornypone Reissue Series (Ted's Choice) TAKRL 1966-RS (Vinyl), and "Led Zeppelin Live in Osaka 9/29 '71" Fan club of Taiwan - Promotional Use Only.(Vinyl). This was best I could get as I had to wear headphones with volume maxed out. Nearly blew my eardrums out. Anyway, heres whatt i was able to hear. After Going to California was finished Bonham gets up & leaves.some talking was going own but I couldn't make out what was said.(JP or JPJ ?) : "I'll tell him when he comes back". RP: "Who". (JP or JPJ ?); "Bonzo". RP: "Whre's Bonzo?" RP calls out his name: "Bonzo" and again RP: "Mr Bonham" and again RP: "Mr Bonham". On the third call RP gets a little reaction from the crowd. RP: " A round of applause" RP tells the audience. RP (speaking to someone on the stage) : "Where's he going?". (Some talking I can't make out what is being said). RP (Talking to audience): Listen, after 3 everybody say Mr Bonham,  1,2,3 Mr Bonham" The audience responsed. RP: "It's a (?can't hear) day".  "Mr. Bonham, what can you say, go for bath with geisha, yeah, right on". RP (talking to someoneon the stage) "What did Cathy say?". (Can't make out answer). RP: "I'm afraid  Mr (paused) "Where is he?" "Where's Bonham?" (?JP or JPJ): "He refused to come"' RP: "F**k you mate". (?JP or JPJ): "Let' do another one". RP :"All right then, no Mr Bonham." After Tagerine Bonham returns. RP (sounding pissed): "Where were you man, They were all shouting for you". JB: "What?" RP: .".(can't make out first part of sentence) ...not like f**king Roger Creager". Some more talking. JB: "Bloody duck, I don't want to play today." RP Says something. JB: "Bloody duck". RP (to the audience) " On drums".  JB: 'Maxwall". RP: "Maxwall, John Bonham, Moby Dick".
