We got there at 5 am. bought tickets, were 20 ft from the stage. The whole day is indelibly etched in my mind. Tubes were bezarre. Lee Micheals and George Carlin were great. My picture is in one of the photos with Robert Plant holding a dove. Needless to say it was incredible.

i was there, it was the best show i have ever seen
now they should do what they can while the balloon is still 3/4 full ,what ever the snit is get over it ,cause in the future they will scrape the marrow for the dna ,clone for more ,who knows ,
we've waited ,the o2 cannot be the last shot at this,,,this is still liveable ,and then, just memories, then something to read about, then the great grand band will be known for what all was done ,(that is where we are now?)
so get on with it, the last will shurley never be enough, this is a plea, i'd have said it to all the greats .
so i'am a greedy freaking pig ,,,, but there is so much more before the big vacation....... you guy's are not even using walkers yet! get on with it.WELL THAT'S MY TRY...
i'll leave it with this line from MR. HOPE
always, paul...
p.s. (from me "pbs") wish you all well, ,,steve tyler? don't let me loose my lunch, let it end on high ,don't chop shop what we have , use a super computer or some wizz bang tech ,but no stand in please...

I was in LA and word broke of the concert in SF on 73 tour. I bought two tickets at some Sears store in LA the day before and drove up to SF. We found the stadium and actually parked across the street from one of the main gates. We stayed up most of the night with case of beer and other party goods and finally nodded around 3am. I was shaken awake by my buddy he said, " dude they opened the gates, let's go". It was around 7AM or so and we quickly got in line.

The crush thru the doors was truly scary. My feet were lifted completely off the ground by the crowd pushing thru the doorway. We eventually got to the field and found ourselves maybe 50 ft away from the empty stage.

Fee Waybill tossed buckets of fake coke and quaaludes into the audience during their performance.

We sat there until maybe 10AM, hungover to beat the band until the first band came on. It was Lee Michaels, the Tubes then Roy Harper. Sometime around 3pm I moved from the field up into the stands searching for something to re-hydrate myself. I found myself right next to the entryway for the players behind the stage area, thinking this maybe a good spot if the band enters here.

I was rewarded soon when Jimmy Page and Peter Grant strode thru with some more of the entourage. Some dude next to me blurted out "Yay, Jeff Beck", the very moment I snapped the shot of Page. He looked up at that moment and smiled sort of weakly and moved on. So, even though Pagey will always have that vision of my face associated with that ignominious remark, I got a real keepsake. Also I think the infamous hotel safe and Peter Grant incident was happening at this time.

I later gave it to my what was my best friend at the time and have lost it now forever. I do have a slightly later back shot of Page maybe 20 paces away.

I remember a lot of this show which is quite amazing seeing how I was 14 years old and seemed to stumble upon 2 4way hits of windowpane ;) I think I was singing along with them so loud one of the guys said who is that woman? Shut her up! lol Or so I thought that ...... I do know I lost my knickers somewear in the front center part of the lawn too ;) Wild free days and the boys did move me so.

Lee Michaels and the Tubes opened The tube were booed
saw some dude climb a light tower and fall. Smoked some blast at the far end of the bleachers and some how made it to the front in time for Led Zepplin to start. lol

Only Concert I saw at Kezar. Led Zeppelin was over 1.5 hours late so Bill Graham added on Lee Michaels (Do U Know What I Mean), who followed Sopwith Camel and the Tubes. Better Late than Not at All. It was EPIC!

paul's picture

i was there also but not so close as you, best concert i ever saw and more so the sound, all analog, after all these years hows your hearing? my ears still ring,,, great to have seen them at this great show, what a freaking buddy and i were standing 15 feet away from that wine drinking cop when he shot himself, he had a bottle of spanyada(sic) setting next to him, we were flying on clean "L" i think the ocean was in the air,
people of the earth need another show like this could happen, . . .the song remains the same though. . .analog was best. . .

We ate crosstops and drove all night from LA. in a 1967 econoline van.
The next morning...............?
The sunshine was intense.
Someone tossed a joint onto the stage and Jimmy picked it up and put it in his pocket and said to the crowd “I will save this for later” and everyone screamed.
I still have trouble remembering what was real and what was not.
All I can say is does anybody remember freedom?
Icky Vic
