18 years old, I traveled from Amsterdam to Ahoy Rotterdam with some friends. from our official seats we had a terrible view on the stage, so we walked around, but never managed te pass the security for better places. we ended up at the very back of the hall. at least a good view, but very far away. The supporting act (who i heard later was Roy Harper) never came to a performance because the audience was yelling for Zep.
When they finally started their show, it took me at least half a minute to recognise Rock and Roll. The sound was really awful and Robert Plant could hardly be heard. During the show the sound became a little better, but never reached the level i later heard on some bootlegs.
I felt a little disappointed by the show. later i realised this had 4 reasons: I never heard Zep perform live before, The album Phisical Grafitti had not been released by then so a few numbers were completely new to me. This was the very first concert after nearly 2 years of rest. And most of all: the acoustic quality of a sportshall is bad anyway.
Nevertheless an exciting evening with my, still, all time favourite band..

I was there that night in Rotterdam, 16 years old, together with some friends from school. We were waiting outside when suddenly the doors went open. We ran inside and heard the doors being closed behind our back. It seems that someone had opened the doors too early. We went through some more doors without being stopped and suddenly... we were standing in front of the stage where Led Zeppelin was doing a soundcheck. It was like we were dreaming. After a few exciting minutes however we were noticed by the security and they took us outside. We looked at each other and couldn't believe what we had just seen. All I can remember from the concert itself, was that the sound was not as good as it was during the soundcheck. It was a memorable evening.

I was there, aged 16, on the rare occasion of Led Zeppelin doing Holland. Although I can't remember the complete setlist, I'm sure they did some more songs than mentioned above. Stairway to Heaven - Robert had some trouble with the words - was certainly played, as was The Wanton Song. In the dutch press the concert was describesd as a kind of 'warm up' try for a tour following the release of Physical Graffiti. The acoustics in the hall were not very good, but the concert was well worth attending. After this I never had a chance to see them again... until december 2007. I was one of the lucky few to get a ticket somehow and had a great time in the O2.

In my memorie the supporting act Roy Harper was boooeeed from the stage by the audience who came only for Led zeppelin. During Stairway To Heaven Robert Plant forgot the lyrics ! luckely for him the audiende did know the song word by word.......
