I was stationed with the British Army in Germany in 1980. When the tour dates were announced I had made plans to see them locally i.e. Dortmund & Hannover. However the army had other ideas and I was sent on Ex Crusader which was held at the same time. All was not lost however as myself and a friend (Ian Burt where are you now) managed to book tickets for the show on 2 Jul 1980 albeit a 600 mile round trip midweek.

At that time, not being overly familiar with the performance history I wondered what the first song was and now cringe because of it's significance in the bands reportoire. The rest of the concert was very good and the band seemed in good form.

Now I can listen to this show whenever I want having got hold of a copy of 'Dinosaur Watching Part 1' , a bootleg of the concert. I still have the two tour shirts from that memorable night and my ticket stub (by the way why not show a real stub from the show rather than one that's never been used !).

Having obtained all live material available I have given this concert a 3/5 rating only because it was no Blueberry Hill / Earls Court, however it was still 'my' concert and for that I am eternally gratefull.

Incidently whilst driving on holiday this year in Germany I asked my partner if she new what she was doing this day 27 years ago. Of course she didn't know what she was doing, however we were driving past Mannheim on the way to Heidleburg and yes it was 2 Jul 2007... it seemed all too long ago.

I went to this concert and it was an amazing time. It was the highlight concert of my young life at that time. I have been to about 50 concerts since the early 80's and this concert was one of my most memorable and cherished. It was supposed to have gone down in May of that year but was postponed for a couple of months. We waited in line for over 7 hours before it started, when the concert started every one was blown away when Zep opened up with "Train kept a rollin". The band was amazing and played for a fairly small crowd of approximately 3000 people but it seemed to be packed. Wow what a concert, I sure hope that I get a chance to see them again it would be another highlight I am sure...
