I was 21 years old at the time and managed to get my 6 tickets for the Friday June 10th show. I remember this because I was happy that I wouldn't have to get up and go to work the next day. I remember the lottery and thinking I would never get so lucky. I don't know what people pay in 2013 for concert tickets but to think that we saw Led Zeppelin for $7.50 a pop, LOL, amazing. Our happy group of six rode the train down from White Plains, lots of people on the train going to the same venue.We had seats about half way back in the mezzanine I believe. It seemed a bit far away until we noticed the mountains of amps and speakers piled 20 feet high or so behind the stage, didn't think we would have any trouble hearing after seeing that. Well Led Zep came on and they didn't disappoint, a total magical performance. Jimmy Page seemed as if he was gliding across the stage all night and everybody else was in fine form. Joints were being passed up and down our row all night long. Played Heartbreaker but no Black Dog. I always felt that Led Zeppelin was not only a great band, but seemed to have a mystique or aura about them that just sucked everyone in, it was like there was some sort of electricity in the air and everyone there probably felt it. A great concert, and yes I heard it all, my ears rang for about three days afterward.

i was there 6-10-77 for a few hours i was in the same room with gods. a nite i'll remember forever. the garden was filled with weed smoke from the ceiling till the mid green sections, zeppelin came out 2 hours late plant said he couldn't find his trousers M. BIRD NYC

My $8.50 ticket got me front row on the left side. Back in those days you sent in your check and a request for tickets and it was a lottery system. Honest and true. This was the first concert I ever saw and when they hit the stage it was as if God himself had walked out. (Well, 4 Gods..)

They owned Madison Square Garden and New York. That was their city, their room. Amazing.

Three and a half hours later with everyone in the stadium pounding their feet so loud and screaming for more, the house lights went on. But the cheering didn't stop. It continued down the streets into the train station and even onto the trains..

That was energy..

Pure magic.

I've never seen that since.

PS - Page/Plant - Madison Square... Robert did mess up on Rock n Roll!!! 20,000 fans singing at the same time can't all bel wrong!!!!!!! Ha! It was funny...

I Was There With My Brother

I know the date because I was 16 and it was my father's birthday. Robert Plant's banter with the audience seemed to fail at times, but the music didn't. Plant asked "does anyone remember forests?" while singing Stairway to Heaven. My brother and I missed the encore because we had to catch the last train to Connecticut, I think they played Whole Lotta Love.

This was the first concert I attended, and it's still the best. I think I paid $25 for the ticket, I would pay 100 times that to see them again.

I don't recall there being a lottery. My boyfriend did what he did for all shows we went to. Camped out overnight. We went June 10th. Amazing is all I can say 33 years later. :)

A great 1977 show that has some of the best playing. This is the first night during that tour where they played Over The Hills And Far Away instead of In My Time Of Dying, and also the first where they play Heartbreaker. Ten Years Gone is gorgeous and No Quarter is truly excellent. Kashmir is thundering and the finale has some great playing, with Achilles Last Stand being the high point. An excellent version of Heartbreaker is thrown into the set and is rocking.

Sat in the 20th row at MSG, just off the center orchestra.
Zep was really cooking that night. Robert's voice was the best I'd heard of the 4 previous Zep Shows I attended. I still have some audio recorded on a little $19 Panasonic Tape Recorder that I snuck in. That night's version of Kashmir was the best I've ever heard...total magic.
Heartbreaker was a big surprise and totally impressive. Achilles was spectacular.
Unfortunately I had some Coke (the drink) seep into the recorder so the second half of the concert is barely audible. 10 Years Gone was also a highlight.
It was the first time I sat in Orchestra for a Zep show and it will always be a vivid memory for me...especially looking around at the Garden during the chorus of Kashmir and seeing the lights bouncing off the mirrored ball that was suspended from the Garden ceiling....unforgettable.

Two friends & I paid the security guards $25 each to get in the Garden. They said whenever you run into an usher just tell him "skip it"....we wound up in the mezz sitting on the stairs and every time an usher tried to move us we would all three yell "SKIP IT" and they would leave us alone...Hilarious....it was the only chance I ever had to see Zep and I'm glad I did as they were larger than life. RIP Vinny M & hello Bob A. wherever you are.

Yes, there was a lottery. The guy who told me about the lottery didn't get his tickets, I did, and my mother made me take my brother instead of the friend who told me about the lottery.

Definitely a lottery, can't remember which show I got the tickets for. Maximum of 6, so a few of us ordered the maximum. Anthony P was the big Zep fan in the group and he was devastated when there was something wrong with his form and his money order got returned. Mine was filled and Anthony wasn't disappointed. Didn't know where the seats were till we got there. We were in the section directly opposite the stage and just a few rows up. Never really had better seats. I can vividly remember being in a trance during Moby Dick and then the explosion at the end and the rest are back on stage with Bonzo. It was good to be 18 back then!

The ticket sale for these 6 concerts was handled by mail order only! There was never a public box office or Tickettron sale. Therefore there wasn't any "camping-out" for tickets.

I was 17 years old. I've never been to a rock concert before although my parents took me to see Sonny and Cher a few years earlier. I sent 4 checks, requesting 6 tickets each, to 4 different addresses. 3 of those checks were returned with letters saying sorry, they sold out. Then my grandmother called. "Nicky? I just got mail for you from Madison square garden." I said "I know, Gram. I already got three checks returned."  She said, "I don't know but if it feels like tickets inside the envelope. Should I open it?" Yes! Of course! I sat down. "I'm holding 6 tickets for Lef Zeppelin for June 10th." I'll be right there!

It was in the top 10 days of my life. No doubt about it. When the lights went down and the band hit the stage it was a religious experience. I'll never forget it. Rest In Peace, Grandma
