News report: Hollywood, a city that is used to visiting dignitaries from all walks of life, is going all out to welcome Britain's newest musical rage, Led Zeppelin. Such excitement has not been generated by a group since the Beatles set foot in Los Angeles three years ago.
Led Zeppelin, who arrived in the states last week for their second stateside tour appeared at the Rose Palace (launching pad for the annual Rose Parade festivities) in Pasadena recently. A host of stars purchased tickets for the event, including Joanne Woodward, Paul Newman and Laurence Harvey.
Producer Mark Carliner who happened to catch the group in San Francisco recently, is talking film projects with them. He is convinced they can be the logical successors on the screen to the Beatles and duplicate their high-flying box office success.

That was a night to remember. The stage was small and everyone stood right in front of Led Zeppelin. Trying to think back to my Hollywood daze which started in 66. I don't remember seeing them that early on the Strip. However, they could have been mingling in the crowd on the streets with all of us! It was so long ago.

I was with my friends Ed Burnsed and Barry Ross, we were sitting around listening to Zepplin 1 and heard they were playing at the Rose Palace. We jumped in Ed's VW and decided to try and get in. It was almost 7pm and we saw a giant line in front of the Rose Palace and thought they were waiting to buy tickets, when we asked someone in the line he said they all had tickets and were waiting to get in. Well we thought there was no way we could get in, but we went to the door and they sold us tickets for $3.50 and let us right in. We stood about 5 feet from the stage and it was an incredible concert, not only Led Zepplin and Julie Driscoll with Brian Auger and the Trinity, but we saw Elvin Bishop too. One of the best ever concerts.

My best friend and I were there...at the foot of the stage, like servants to our masters. I can never forget Jimmy Page sitting in a chair on stage...with a glorious light show behind them, which shed awesome patterns and shadows all over Robert's bare chest....So glad someone posted this!

The way I recall it, Led Zepplin came out first, and was followed by Brian Auger & the Trinity. By that time, our ears were blasted. Auger leaned hard on his organ with the Leslie speakers and it was more than we could stand. We stuck around for 1 or 2 songs in his set, then left.
